Dorel Juvenile US is looking for a self-motivated, Senior Product Design Engineer to join our product development team in Columbus, IN. The Senior Design Engineer is a key member of the global cross functional team as a technical lead and will be responsible for introducing exceptional innovation into products.
Lead engineering development of assigned product category. Manage engineering projects with accountability for deliverable quality, schedules and budgets. Perform engineering analysis using design controls processes (FMEA, FEA, root causes analysis & tolerance analysis), applying agile development principles, test driven development (Design Validation Plan & Report) and technical design reviews. Ensure products are designed and engineered to meet quality and industry requirements (ASTM and CPSC). Design Engineering can be expected to create 3D CAD utilizing Solidworks as well as create part lists for Bills of Material costing. Lead or participate in consult with design and supplier partners. Generate Engineering Product Specification to communicate Product Design Intent among global cross-function team.
Mechanical Engineering degree with a good understanding of engineering principles and practices. Desired experience in Juvenile product and/or medical devices; hands on design on consumer products with emphasis on plastic, metal components. Seven plus years of experience of consumer products manufacturing as a design engineer or product development related fields. Track record to bring new consumer product from concept to market. Must be proficient with Solidworks CAD modeling - advanced surfacing is high desired. Must have a sound working knowledge of injection molded plastic part design and manufacturing practices, DFM & DFA. Must have good evaluation skills and the ability to make corrective actions based on analysis of testing. Must be a team player and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment. Must be an organized, detail-oriented, creative, confident, self-motivated, results focused individual with the ability to demonstrate a solid personal commitment to the company's success and profitability. Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills interfacing with all levels of management and foreign offices. Strong technical skills integrated with excellent planning, organization, and follow through abilities a must. Domestic and International travel is required.
