Charity 1st Program Gives Children-Focused Charities a Jump Start

Dorel Juvenile’s Safety 1st brand recently announced the third charity to receive a $10,000 donation through its Charity 1st program. The Safety 1st Charity 1st initiative is part of the company’s continued efforts to help provide support and safety for children of all ages. Charity 1st focuses on newly launched non-profits aimed at helping children.

The third donation was awarded to The Way Home Adoption. Founded by Kendall Pace Monroe the organization provides permanent homes for foster children at risk of being emancipated. The Safety 1st donation will go toward recruiting and training foster families in order to offer loving and supportive homes for fostered youth in Houston, Texas and in surrounding areas.

“These funds will allow us to expand our program to assist more children who otherwise would age-out of care with no permanent relationships,” said Ms. Monroe. “We are 100% funded by philanthropy, so the support from our community is what makes this mission possible, and we are honored to benefit from the generosity of a company that is dedicated to communities all across the nation.”

The Way Home Adoption is the first national recipient of Charity 1st funding. Charity 1st’s efforts began right in the Safety 1st brand’s backyard, in Boston, Massachusetts with two of the donation recipients receiving their checks at the Safety 1st Pop-Up Shop in Faneuil Hall: The Corey Griffin Foundation and g6pd Deficiency – Brody’s Battle.

“Philanthropy is important to everyone in our Safety 1st family, and Charity 1st is an initiative focused on helping young charities grow and meet their goals,” said Paul Powers, President, Dorel Juvenile USA.  “Like new parents, charities in their infancy often need a boost of support, and we are so proud to have supported The Corey Griffin Foundation, g6pd Deficiency – Brody's Battle, and The Way Home Adoption.”
